The Stardust Foundation of Central New York on Friday detailed a long list of previously unannounced projects it has funded in the past 12 months.
The information was presented at the local philanthropic foundation's annual community investment review luncheon, held at the Aurora Inn in Aurora.

The projects outlined bring the total amount of funding disbursed or committed by the organization to $1,896,674 since it established itself in the region more than a year ago.

Highlights of the new projects include a challenge grant being offered to help endow a new organization called the Cayuga Foundation. The Stardust Foundation will match dollar-for-dollar up to $250,000. The Cayuga Foundation will operate as a community funding organization for a variety of programs throughout Cayuga County. Similar organizations exist in neighboring counties.

Another highlight is a promise of $75,000, including $10,000 that was delivered Friday, for a major youth leadership training program administered through an East Syracuse-based organization called L.E.A.D. USA.

The luncheon also detailed a long list of community projects, of which most have already received their Stardust funding.

Highlights of those grants included $25,000 to the Cayuga/Seneca Community Action Agency for a new roof at the agency's building that houses Head Start and Family Development programs, $29,000 for bathroom renovations at Evergreen Heights long-term care facility and $6,000 for new Christmas decorations for Auburn's Memorial City Hall and the gazebo across the street.

" Keep up the good work. Nice to see that someone cares.
And I still think you should start the ball rolling on renovating the Schine's Theater. "
