A two-car crash in the Town of Springport Saturday afternoon claimed the life of Stephen R. Landers, 20, of Union Springs, according to state police.
Police said that Landers was traveling northbound on Route 90 at about 3:15 p.m. when he passed another car before losing control and crashing into a southbound vehicle during heavy rain.
Landers' Honda Civic collided with a Cadillac Deville driven by William D. Restey, of Ithaca. Police said that Restey and his passenger, Beverly J. Restey, were both transported to University Hospital in Syracuse.
Police said that Landers was transported to Auburn Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Landers was a 2006 graduate of Union Springs Central School.
Troopers were at the scene of the crash until after 7:30 p.m. Saturday and said that they were assisted at the accident scene by the Cayuga County
Sheriff's Office, the Union Springs Fire Department, the Cayuga and Aurelius fire departments and TLC and Rural Metro ambulance services.
