ALBANY -- New York agency heads are developing plans to address a growing budget deficit by cutting state spending.
The state Division of Budget is holding public hearings in Albany Wednesday to get updates from the Office of General Services; Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation; Department of Health; Office for Technology; and the Division of Housing and Community Renewal.
Agencies like OGS have already taken steps to reduce energy costs. Officials say turning off lights and adjusting thermostats cut energy consumption by 8 percent in more than 50 buildings and more than 19.5 million square feet of office space OGS manages.
