State police determined there was no mechanical failure or defects on the truck that struck a pedestrian bridge over Interstate 690 at the New York State Fairgrounds in Geddes last summer.
The accident occured when a boom on a Robinson Roll Off Inc. truck became almost fully extend while traveling by the fairgrounds. The truck was used to carry trash bins. The company is based in Auburn, state police said.
Several people sustained serious injuries as a result of the crash, which took place on the first day of the fair.
As a result of the investigation, Shawn Sanford, 41, of Syracuse, has been charged with being over height in violation of the vehicle and traffic law, according to a state police press release issued late Tuesday night.
