UTICA -- Federal marshals have brought a Utica man back to upstate New York to face a 1993 murder charge.
Donovan Skelton was taken into custody by authorities in the Bahamas in April after 15 years on the run.
The 46-year-old Skelton is charged with second-degree murder for the Feb. 29, 1996 slaying of 16-year-old bystander Harold Surarrow during an early morning shootout outside a Utica nightspot.
Authorities say Skelton fled the United States to his native Jamaica after he was charged with murder. Marshals returned him to Oneida County Friday and he was arraigned Monday. He is being held without bail. Skelton is scheduled to be back in Oneida County Court next week after getting a lawyer.
