Weedsport and Cato-Meridian are back in the Section III football playoffs, but each took a different path.

The Warriors (5-2) lost two close games to division rivals Watertown IHC and Onondaga so they'll take to the road for their Class D opener. Weedsport earned a six seed and will play at No. 3 Utica-Notre Dame at 2 p.m. Saturday.
Notre Dame suffered its first loss of the season against top-seeded Dolgeville this week. While the Jugglers won their first six games by an average margin of 32.5 points per game, top-seeded Dolgeville dominated Notre Dame in a 42-14 win on Saturday.
The last meeting between Weedsport and Notre Dame went to the Jugglers, in a 2006 sectional quarterfinal game.
Weedsport lost to Dolgeville in the sectional semifinals last season.
While Weedsport suffered some setbacks along the way, Cato-Meridian rode a hot streak into the playoffs, winning six straight games. The Blue Devils only loss came in the season opener against defending state champion Bishop Ludden.
During the streak, Cato-Meridian is scoring more than 42 points per game.
But the Blue Devils play in a tough C West division and only picked up a seven seed in the Section III playoffs. They will travel to No. 2 Westmoreland for a 2 p.m. game, Saturday.
Cato-Meridian is hoping to pick up its first sectional win since 1995 - it lost in the first round to Mount Markham a year ago.
Westmoreland (7-0) is coming off a victory against previously unbeaten Cazenovia, easily its biggest win of the season.
