Cato-Meridian running back Ethan Holt (23) carries the ball against Moravia in a game, Oct. 10, in Cato. The Blue Devils earned a seven seed in the Section III, Class C playoffs and will travel to play No. 2 Westmoreland for a first-round game Saturday.
The Warriors (5-2) lost two close games to division rivals Watertown IHC and Onondaga so they'll take to the road for their Class D opener. Weedsport earned a six seed and will play at No. 3 Utica-Notre Dame at 2 p.m. Saturday.

Notre Dame suffered its first loss of the season against top-seeded Dolgeville this week. While the Jugglers won their first six games by an average margin of 32.5 points per game, top-seeded Dolgeville dominated Notre Dame in a 42-14 win on Saturday.

The last meeting between Weedsport and Notre Dame went to the Jugglers, in a 2006 sectional quarterfinal game.

Weedsport lost to Dolgeville in the sectional semifinals last season.

While Weedsport suffered some setbacks along the way, Cato-Meridian rode a hot streak into the playoffs, winning six straight games. The Blue Devils only loss came in the season opener against defending state champion Bishop Ludden.

During the streak, Cato-Meridian is scoring more than 42 points per game.

But the Blue Devils play in a tough C West division and only picked up a seven seed in the Section III playoffs. They will travel to No. 2 Westmoreland for a 2 p.m. game, Saturday.

Cato-Meridian is hoping to pick up its first sectional win since 1995 - it lost in the first round to Mount Markham a year ago.

Westmoreland (7-0) is coming off a victory against previously unbeaten Cazenovia, easily its biggest win of the season.

" Excellent Job Cato. Lets show them we deserve much better than a 7 seed. "
