The boil water advisory is still in effect for Water District No. 3 in the town of Aurelius. Town officials hope service can be restored on Tuesday, Oct. 21 pending positive results from a water sample.
The advisory affects 77 users north of the village of Cayuga on Route 90 .

While the pipe has been repaired, town officials are waiting for test results from the Cayuga County Health Department on a second water sample taken.

The water line in question was installed in 1968 and runs along the old Erie Canal bed. It has had as many as 12 breaks in recent memory, according to town clerk Debbie Pinckney.
