HIT: To some beautiful autumn colors as fall peaks in central New York. This is a special time of year as the trees put on a special show before shedding their leaves to get ready for winter.
With the lowest gas prices in about a year, it's a perfect time to take a drive and see nature's beauty before it's gone.
MISS: To the vandalism at the Cayuga County Health and Human Services office over the weekend. Someone got into the building and cut cables that connected computers between that office, the Cayuga County District Attorney's Office, the Office of Veteran's Affairs and the county Health Department.
As a result, the computers in all of those offices were inoperable, costing valuable time and money to fix.
This crime could have been a lot worse as valuable and confidential information could have been compromised.
Hopefully, the perpetrators of this crime will be brought to justice.
HIT: To local political debates that have kept to the issues and not turned into insult sessions. So far, debates between candidates for Congress and state offices have been free of mud slinging and cheap shots.
Let's hope they stay that way going forward.
It's good to see that while candidates can differ on their views, they can still have respect for each other.
HIT: To a workshop hosted by Cayuga County Soil and Water Conservation District this week to help people in the agriculture industry interact more effectively with media companies.
Experts in public relations, newspapers and television shared information about how farmers can successfully communicate with reporters about promotions, industry trends or environmental issues.
The object of the workshop was to make farmers more at ease with mass communication, especially when so many news stories now move so quickly on the Internet.
