A community forum designed to combat racism will feature at least eight panelists from across central New York.
The second installment of the “Moving Past Racism” forum, sponsored by the Auburn/Cayuga NAACP, Change International, Cayuga Community College and the New York Institute of Dance and Education, is slated for 7 to 9 p.m. Monday, Oct. 20 at Cayuga-Onondaga BOCES, 1879 West Genesee Street Road, Aurelius.
Some of the panelists include Julius Lawrence, of Peace Inc., Syracuse; Tia Gilliam, of Cayuga Counseling, Auburn; Sally Jo Widmer, president of the Auburn Teachers Association; Lilly Moore, a community member of Seneca Falls; Valerie Davis, an Auburn community member; Bill Tenity, retired teacher from the Auburn Enlarged City School District; Edward Rosado, college student from Geneva; and Susan Lansing, a white mother of three black children.
Questions can be submitted to the panelists in various ways. Those in attendance can submit questions on index cards, ask panelists directly, or post questions online through a forum offered by The Citizen. To do that, go to auburnpub.com/moving_past_racism.
