Jon Nakamatsu will perform Rachmaninoff's “Piano Concerto No. 3,” widely felt to be the most difficult piece in the piano repertoire, at 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Oct. 17 and 18, at the Mulroy Civic Center, 800 S. State St., Syracuse.
The concerts are part of the Post-Standard Classics Series with the Syracuse Symphony Orchestra. Music Director Daniel Hege will conduct.
At 7 p.m. each night, Nakamatsu will discuss his life as a concert pianist and his Van Cliburn International Competition-winning performance of Rachmaninoff's concerto in 1997. Hege will lead post-concert talks each night in the orchestra level lobby.
