Cornwell leads first-place Moravia

Jen Cornwell led the Moravia volleyball team with six kills and seven assists in a 3-1 win over IAC division rival Southern Cayuga with scores of 25-16, 25-22, 24-26 and 25-15, Tuesday.
Brandi O'Hara led the Blue Devils with 12 assists, six aces and a kill, while McKenna Plumadore had five kills, three assists and four aces.

The Chiefs were led by Laura Hulme with 11 points, two aces and seven assists. Melissa Polhamus had 16 points, five aces and four digs, while Jessica Currie pitched in 17 points, four aces and five digs.

Moravia's JV team won 2-0.

Moravia (5-9 overall, 5-1 division) remains in first place in the division and travels to Newfield, Thursday.

Southern Cayuga (4-10, 4-3) hosts undefeated Dryden, Thursday.

Trumansburg 3, Union Springs 0

Hannah Moniz led the Wolves with two aces, two service points, two digs and a kill as they fell 25-8, 25-19 and 25-9.

GIRLS SOCCER

Auburn 3, Corcoran 0

Kim Neagle recorded a hat trick, while Laura Taylor and Nikki Neagle each had an assist. The Maroons had 33 shots on goal and four corner kicks. They held the Cougars to just four shots.

“Laura has been playing well up (on offense),” Maroons coach Tom Quest said. “She has been supplying plays and playing well the past two games.”

Virginia Porten had three saves and Aubrey Campbell had one.

Auburn (8-6-1) hosts Cicero-North Syracuse, Thursday.

Cazenovia 4, Jordan-Elbridge 2

Tia Segretto and Carrie-Jo Farrugia each scored a goal for the Eagles, while Liz Caspari and Amanda Wheeler each assisted on a goal. Emily Dillon had 12 saves in the net.

Jordan-Elbridge (2-14-1) hosts Marcellus, today.

BOYS SOCCER

Corcoran 2, Auburn 0

Adam Cadwallader saved 11 shots for the Maroons. They took 18 shots and two corner kicks.

“The boys did extremely well,” Maroons coach David Gregg said.

Auburn (3-13) travels to Cicero-North Syracuse, Thursday.

BOYS CROSS COUNTRY

Moravia, Inc.

Jason Phillips finished eighth (18:08) for the Blue Devils, while Joe Grobelny was 24th (19:23).

Adam Wiethuechter placed 31st (22:14), Billy Janke took 34th (22:49) and Richie Bentley finished 35th (22:52) in the JV meet.

Moravia will participate in the Marathon Invitational, Saturday.

Alicia McLaughlin came in 20th (23:08), while Aimee Glenister finished in 21st (23:09) and Kayla Slater took 26th (24:20). Diane Stinler placed 34th (25:01).
