Susquenhanna Valley blanks Southern Springs

Andy Riester led the Southern Springs defense with seven tackles in its 48-0 loss to Susquenhanna Valley, Saturday.
Nate Markham and Mark Delaney had to fill in at quarterback after Jason Wright left the game in the first quarter with an injury.

Prior to the injury, he had completed a pass for 22 yards. Delaney went 1-for-4 with for 16 yards, while Markham completed two passes for 14 yards. Dustin Colella rushed for 26 yards off of 11 carries to led the ground game.

“Our line was very weak today,” Southern Springs head coach Jeff Ianiri said.

They were without starter Josh Coleman, but were still able to convert seven first downs. Matt Heindl, Scott Wood and Michael Bean each had five tackles for the defense.

Southern Springs (1-5) travels to Waverly, Friday.

Union Springs 3, Groton 0

Alexa Schooley led the Wolves with a hat trick for the Wolves, while Lindsey Artman saved three shots.

Union Springs finished it's season at 9-6-1 and now awaits their Section IV, Class C seeding.

Jordan-Elbridge 2, Hannibal 1

The Warriors led with five minutes left in the game, but the Eagles' Carrie-Jo Farrugia tied the score. In just two minutes, Farrugia took the lead on Friday. Tia Segretto and Ashley Foote assisted her goals. Emily Dillon saved five shots for the Eagles.

West Genesee 3, Auburn 2 2OT

Marissa Slayton led the Maroons with a goal and assist to Laura Taylor, Friday.

Virginia Porten had 16 saves and the Maroons had five corner kicks.

The Maroons (7-6-1) travels to Corcoran on Tuesday.

BOYS CROSS COUNTRY

East-Syracuse Minoa Invitational

Weedsport, 1st place

Andrew Smith led the Warriors with a first place finish (16:49) as the team scored 54 points and their second invitational victory on the year.

Mike Greer came in ninth place (17:37) and Johnny Bos finished in 10th (17:39). Zack Field took 14th (18:25) and Logan Thompson placed 16th (18:35).

GIRLS CROSS COUNTRY

East-Syracuse Minoa Invitational

Weedsport, 7th place

Erin Daly came in 33rd place (21:45) to lead the Warriors to 206 points at the invite.

Alyssa O'Bryan took 39th (22:13) and Nicole Greer came in 41st (22:26). Michele Donahue placed 46th (22:59) and Caitlin Jones came in 56th (24:42).
