The Cayuga County Sheriff's Office is seeking information about a vehicle investigators say may have been involved in a motor vehicle accident that injured three people Thursday.
According to the sheriff's office, detectives are trying to identify the operator of a gold, sporty vehicle, similar in appearance to a Mitsubishi Eclipse. Witnesses reported that a vehicle matching that description was crossing Route 5 from Turnpike Road onto Depot Road in Sennett at the time of the incident, and it may have contributed to the collision.
Witnesses said that an eastbound Plymouth Neon, operated by Peter D. Cantone, was attempting to avoid collision with the gold vehicle when it lost control and crossed paths with a 2004 Chrysler Sebring, operated by Mary A. Disanto, according to the sheriff's office.
The gold vehicle was not involved in the collision and fled the scene, sheriff's investigators said. The accident occurred at approximately 3:20 p.m.
Cantone, Disanto and Disanto's 10-year-old granddaughter were all injured as a result of the accident.
Sheriff's detectives ask anyone with information about the operator of the gold vehicle to call 253-1610.
