I remember back almost two years ago, The Citizen writer, David Wilcox, had a great one liner.
That in my travels I was out trying to spread the “gospel” of the run. In a way I think David hit the nail on the head.
Since my new-found love of running I have been trying to show others just how easy it can be to just go out the door and put one foot after the other.
Granted the first 3-4 weeks are hard but after that you've set the precedent that you aren't going to give up and that you are in it to stay.
I am inspired to see many of my old and new friends out there giving it a shot as well.
Many of them are feeling great and some have even lost a lot of weight in the process.
One of my friends dropped 20+ pounds by his second month of running with us.
Another quit smoking to try running.
Running isn't the only thing in the world but I have seen it help those combat smoking, alcoholism, and major weight issues over time.
Many ask me why I do it because I am not any of those above things? I guess to them I say when you love something you have to hold on tight, support it 100 percent and bring along as many friends along the way to share in your enlightenment.
Once in awhile the world will even throw in a T-shirt and a medal as a perk!
To all of my friends that are just starting up, I am proud of you and keep up the good work!
