The Cayuga-Onondaga Board of Cooperative Educational Services welcomed 700 students into its various programs in July and August.
According to tallies from Superintendent Bill Speck, 700 students came to BOCES for special education, alternative education, adult education, the Summer Career Connections Camp and regular academic summer school.
That figure doesn't include the professional development work administrators, faculty and staff engaged in learning different teaching strategies.
On Thursday, BOCES will host an open house, showcasing the work done by those students and introducing the public to the plethora of educational services the institution offers.
The open house, slated for 9:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the BOCES Regional Education Center, 1879 West Genesee Street Road, Aurelius, will feature self-guided tours of the campus and visits to the special education programs at the campus, the distance learning center and the career and technical programs - which currently have enrollment of more than 600 students.
Attendees can speak to instructors and students, view exhibits and see demonstrations of student work.
People can also visit to the professional development unit, the day care facility, and learn more about BOCES' instructional support services, special education services and the GED programs.
