Weedsport's defense was top notch once again, as the Warriors posted their second straight shutout, 43-0, over Sandy Creek on Friday.

Weedsport's offense was only on the field for three series in the first half but its opening drive was a 13-play charge to the end zone.

“We moved the ball really well,” Warriors head coach Jason Trousdale said. “I don't care what level you're at, any time you move the ball for a score on 13 plays, the opposing coach is saying that's a good offense,”

To cap the opening drive, Abe Jordan connected with Craig Mietz on a 13-yard pass. On the drive, the Warriors ran several no-huddle plays.

“I think that threw them off,” Trousdale said. “We executed the plays nicely.”

Mietz rushed 13 times for 177 yards and four scores. Jordan was 4-for-5 with 81 yards and two touchdowns. Jordan Stott had 13 carries for 90 yards and Justin Rose caught a pass for 67 yards that resulted in a score.

Defensively, Stott led with 12 tackles, while Jake DeChick had nine tackles and a sack. Rose also added a sack with five tackles and Brian Quigley contributed with seven tackles.

Weedsport (4-1) travels to Onondaga next Saturday.

“They are a very tough team,” he said. “They are coming off of a loss to Watertown IHC and our game against them is their homecoming night. They will be pretty fired up.”

But the Warriors will have some motivation too as the Tigers handed them a big loss last season.

“You can bet we will want to seek some redemption,” Trousdale said.
