Chiefs earn sweep of Trojans

Casey Underwood led the Southern Cayuga boys soccer team with two goals and two assists in their 5-0 win over Newfield, Thursday.
Bill Rejman had two goals, while Lewis Morse, Joe Rocker and Dylan Parmenter each earned an assist.

The Chiefs' fifth goal was scored by the Trojans.

The Chiefs defense didn't allow any shots on goal or corner kicks. The offense had 38 shots on goal and 11 corner kicks.

“Our interior defense was outstanding,” Chiefs coach Terry Underwood said.

Southern Cayuga (12-1) travels to Moravia, Monday.

Fayetteville-Manlius 7, Auburn 0

Adam Cadwallader had 10 saves for the Maroons. They had 16 shots on goal and one corner kick.

GIRLS SOCCER

Fayetteville-Manlius 2, Auburn 0

Virginia Porten saved 10 shots for the Maroons. They had three shots on goal and one corner kick.

“We are going to take a look at getting a few more bodies up front,” Maroons coach Tom Quest said. “We haven't scored much lately.”

Auburn (7-4-1) hosts Cortland, Wednesday.

Union Springs 2, Watkins Glen 1

Alexa Schooley and Amanda Cuff each scored a goal, Wednesday. Nicole Randazzo had an assist and Lindsey Artman saved two shots.

The Wolves had 19 shots on goal and five corner kicks.

BOYS GOLF

Baldwinsville 198, Auburn 206

Trevor Doan was the Maroons individual medalist at Highland Golf Course with a 39. Bob Dushatinski and James Cutillo each had a 40. Bob Gage carded a 41.

Auburn (7-7, 6-6) ends the season until the Sectional III playoffs in May.

FIELD HOCKEY

Cazenovia 1, Weedsport 0

Kaitlin Hammersley saved five shots for the Warriors.

Weedsport (4-8-1 overall, 3-5-1 league) travels to Liverpool, Monday.

Homer 3, Port Byron 2

Ali Short led the Panthers offense with two goals, while Shelby Gilbert had an assist. Kellie Redmond saved seven shots.

Port Byron (6-6-1) hosts Watertown, Saturday.

Marathon 7, Moravia 1

Hannah Mackey scored a goal for the Blue Devils against the defending state champions. Amanda Stone had 18 saves.

Moravia (7-6) travels to Oxford, Monday.

VOLLEYBALL

Oswego 3, Auburn 0

Megan Cahill led the Maroons with six assists, one kill and two digs as they fell 25-18, 25-22 and 25-14.

Liz Daniels had three kills and two digs. Nicole Bozek led the team in digs with seven, Katie Brown finished with a block and two kills, while Diamond Wingate had two kills. Emily Felter also blocked a shot and had two kills. Danielle Ryan and Kaylee Hamburger each had two digs.

Auburn (5-6) travels to Fowler next.
