Breast milk for usein ice cream unrealistic

Thursday, October 2, 2008 11:56 PM EDT

Be for real, people. “Breast milk for ice cream?” What will you think of or come up with in our society next?
Do you really know what a woman's breast milk tastes like? Do you know what has to be considered for doing this? Plus, will all of these girls and women get paid for even considering doing this? Also, what about all of the farmers you'd be putting out of providing their cows' milk? Plus, their making a living.

I sure know if it was me or my daughters, I for one would disagree with this one.

" Farmer Guy needed a new microwave last spring. He did not want to buy one made in China. We went to half a dozen stores -- but all microwaves were made in China (except one made in Korea, but it was much too large for his needs). So, at Lowe's, we asked -- they don't MAKE microwaves in the United States any more.

There is no reason we shouldn't, except the cheap ones from China have driven the American manufacturers out of the business. "

" very true brew,
I plan to pay more attention to CHINA purchasing, unless its some electronic gadget the kids want, if it says China, it will stay on the shelf and not placed in my shopping cart. "

" I once heard there is a market for literal nursemaids -- women who nurse other people's babies. I thought about it, because I nursed my kids so long, I could still produce milk years after I finished breastfeeding, but I was told they test constantly for disease and so forth. Surely a good idea, but would have been too much hassle for me.

I nursed my 18 mos and 2 1/2 years, respectively. I did not have to pay money to purchase imperfect manufactured food for my babies. I did not have to worry about plastic bottles leaching bad things into my kids' milk. Well, not the first kid -- with the second one, I had to go back to work when he was 3 weeks old, and I'd pump my milk and freeze it, and their dad would bring the baby to my work to be nursed at lunchtime, pick up the morning milk for the afternoon, etc. But with the first one, there was also no washing bottles and worrying if they were sterile. No mess, no fuss, all natural. Unlike during pregnancy, they actually RECOMMEND a glass of wine or a cocktail when you are nursing, as it helps relax your body and let the milk flow.

And I nursed EVERYWHERE. No different than a person having an apple or other healthy snack -- feeding your baby is feeding your baby and other people could get over it if they had a problem with me pulling up my shirt and feeding my child, at home, in public, wherever.

But despite the bad old joke about women and milk and cows, women are NOT cows and mother's milk is for babies, not for commercial consumers. How revolting -- not the milk, but the exploitation of it. "

" Karl: do knock something you no nothing of--lol..
(unless you dated a girl who just had a baby)
It's sweeter tasting than candy apple syrup!

brew: you painted a funny picture in my head! lol....

FG: I agree, I breast-fed all my kids. So many even today look at it as nasty but it is healthier than formula!
I would have relatives come to my house when I was feeding, and get all flustered about it. Though I was covered, I would say "my home, my child, MY CHOICE"!

Anon: agreed, I bet the market for toddlers ice cream would be huge! As long as the milk was tested for safety. "

" Heck, you can't even get most women to breast feed their babies, which, after all, is what breasts were made for. Mother's milk is for nourishing our offspring and giving them immunities no innoculation can give, and also for bonding. The rest is nonsense. "
