Future happenings at the library include stories for babies, information for seniors and a reading of “Just Like Sisters.
Fall stories come to the library during preschool story hour to be held at 10 a.m. Oct. 14, 28 and Nov. 11. Pre-schoolers and their caregivers are invited to enjoy read-aloud stories and related activities.
Also, long-time music teacher, Jill Fogel, kicked off her reading/singing program this month.
It will continue from 4 to 5 p.m. Thursdays through Nov. 6. Fogel's activities will delight children and get them to learn and enjoy music through songs, stories, rhythm and rhyme.
The target age group for these activities is children in kindergarten through third grade, but this is a family event, open to all and free. Children are welcome to attend as many sessions as possible
If you are 13 to 18 years old, come to the Teen Book Club at 6:30 p.m. the first Monday of each month. Oct. 6 is a very exciting meeting where the teens will discover what exactly goes into the writing of a one-act play.
Area playwright Jay Hanagan has offered to be the guide for this adventure. He will organize and give direction and teach the process so the teens can come up with a play.
Nov. 3 has teens producing the one-act play with Pam Bryan, and on Dec. 1, teens will be caroling in the neighborhood.
For seniors, the library will offer a series called “Health, Finance and Peace of Mind.”
It will begin at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 28, and this first session will cover Medicare Part D.
This discussions will be conducted by Robert D. Harris, R.Ph., BCPP. Harris is the extension support specialist and project manager for CURxED at Cornell University Resource Education for Medicare Part D.
Information about Medicare prescription drug coverage will be provided.
Future sessions will cover asset preservation planning Oct. 29 and creating a retirement paycheck Oct. 30. All sessions will be held at 7 p.m.
Attorney Calvin A. Brainard will conduct asset preservation planning and discuss how to protect one's assets from estate taxes and the cost of long-term care.
Creating a retirement paycheck will be presented by Vincent Sinicropi of Sinicropi & Healy, LLP.
These three sessions are free and open to all.
Lastly, a reading of “Just Like Sisters” will be held at 7 p.m. Oct. 14. This is a reading and talk back of a new play by playwright Jay Hanagan.
The play's focus is on two sisters attending their mother's funeral.
They stop, urn-in-hand, at a pub to uncover mother-daughter, sister-sister relationships, jealousies and other hard feelings, which quickly and humorously rear their ugly heads as the sisters learn to cope with their losses, and their gains.
The reading and talk-back are free and open to all.
