Arcuri in lockstep with Speaker Nancy Pelosi

Tuesday, September 30, 2008 11:30 PM EDT

I find the actions and ineptitude of our current 110th Congress deplorable, primarily Speaker Nancy Pelosi.
On Friday, Aug. 1, with our nation facing an immense energy crisis, Pelosi refused a vote on domestic offshore drilling, despite a 70 percent approval rating by the public. Instead, she allowed a vote to adjourn for a five-week recess. When House Republicans attempted to block the adjournment so they could continue to debate the bill, Pelosi defiantly had the microphones and lights turned off on them. Nonetheless, they debated for hours in the dark, while a majority of Democrats went home on a “well deserved” vacation. A small army of congressional Republicans continue to debate on the floor of the house to this day demanding that Pelosi call the House back in session.

I understand that additional oil isn't the only answer to our energy calamity, but at least it's domestic oil that can help bridge the gap between the present and our renewable energy future. It's quite obvious that Pelosi is stalling the vote until after the elections as to not hurt her majority who for the most part, will vote against the bill even at the behest of the American public.

Would you want Pelosi representing us in the House of Representatives? Well, we do. Congressman Mike Arcuri has voted virtually lockstep with her during his first term. Ignore the headlines and research his record, because what defines someone is not what they say, yet rather what they do.
