Two teenagers from Port Byron are facing felony charges after they were arrested in connection with the theft of 150 goose decoys that occurred on Sept. 16, the Cayuga County Sheriff's Office said.
James Savarese, 18, and Joshua Blaisdell, 17, have each been charged with one count of fourth-degree grand larceny, a felony.
The 150 Canada Goose decoys were valued at more than $3,700. Approximately half of the decoys have been recovered, according to the sheriff's office. The remaining decoys were reportedly dumped down an embankment on the edge of Bush Hill Road in Conquest, but have since been removed from that location.
The decoys had been reported missing by local hunters who had them floating about 500 feet off the northern shore of Cayuga Lake.
Savarese, of 1284 Howland Island Road in Port Byron, and Blaisdell, of 9772 Route 38 in Port Byron, were released and will reappear in Aurelius Town Court on Oct. 1.
Detective Brian Schenck said anyone with additional information can contact him at
