The Auburn girls swim team stayed undefeated in a 93-75 win against Baldwinsville at the Auburn YMCA-WEIU, Wednesday.
“It was a really good swim meet,” Maroons head coach Tom Clary said. “We came from behind to win.”
The first event was the 200 medley relay, which Auburn lost by less than one second. Kelsey Roe, Makenzie Hauger, Michaela Elliott and Robyn Clary took second (2:06.93).
Roe also took individual victories in the 200 IM (2:27.24) and the 100 butterfly (1:06.67).
The Maroons swept the 200 IM, with Tiffany Kline coming in second (2:37.26) and Hauger finishing third (2:37.98).
Kline also won the 100 backstroke (1:11.22) with Elliot following in second (1:11.41) and Bethany Schroeder taking third (1:12.92), earning a career-best time. The sweep in the 100 backstroke sealed the lead for the Maroons.
Also winning for Auburn was Ashley King in the 200 freestyle (2:09.70), Kara Cunningham won the 500 freestyle (5:57.01), Hauger took the 100 breaststroke (1:15.72) and the Maroons 200 freestyle relay team of Clary, Molly Swartz, Tracy Miller and Mallorie Dygert finished in first (1:54.88).
“Tonight was a really good meet,” Tom Clary said. “Baldwinsville is a friendly competition for us. The girls are in the middle of our hardest training so to have a good meet in the middle of that is really great for them. There were a lot of close races for us.”
One of those close calls was in the 50 freestyle where Dygert took second (26:81) and Cunningham followed in third (27:84). Auburn took second and third in the 100 freestyle with Dygert in second (58:24) and King in third (59:74).
“I was really happy with how they swam,” Tom Clary said. “The girls performed really well.”
Auburn (4-0) travels to Cicero-North Syracuse, Oct. 3.
