I am a bit nostalgic, and at times, state “I'm stuck in the 70s” but just to send a thought to the people of Weedsport, the Marshall family and the new Pit Stop: It looks great and the best to you on your new endeavor.
On to my thought ... On Sept. 18, I viewed the destruction of the “old” building that housed the Pit Stop, and it brought a tear to my eyes.
“Why?” one might say, I guess that building represented to me, Mr. Jack Meitz, a very well-known person of our area. His family is very active in many areas of our community, mostly for our school. That building reminded me of the kindness he gave in his little “Citgo” gas station and tended to automotive needs.
He continued to work for the Marshall family, when they developed the Pit Stop Convenience Store. I guess my point, my thought is that I would like to suggest that they dedicate a part of the property, a corner, a wall, somewhere in remembrance of Jack Meitz. Although he is sadly missed by many, this will always be some kind of remembrance of him and the community he lived in.
