Soule Cemetery needs new fence, sprucing up

Wednesday, September 24, 2008 11:46 PM EDT

About a mile east of the college on Franklin Street is Soule Cemetery, for anyone not familiar with Sennett. This is not only one of the oldest, but best maintained (by City of Auburn) in the area. My problem is with the brown chain link fence visible from the road, also badly damaged on the corner (10-plus years ago). Is this fence to keep people out or in? The entrance gates could be reset and made less conspicuous, if they're necessary, but please rip out the scrappy looking fence. And a little landscaping would dress up a place that holds so many memories and so much history.

" So organize a group of interested citizens for a clean up. Ask not what your city can do for you but what you can do for your city. A slight remodeling of JFKs words. Talk to the caretakers of the cemetery and see what you can do to help. Whining to a website will do nothing. "
