Evy Thompson led the Moravia football team with two touchdowns in a 29-16 win against division foe Newfield on Saturday. The Blue Devils rebounded after a disappointing 42-19 loss to Groton last week.
Moravia quarterback Dillon Langtry ran the ball 13 times for 116 yards and added a touchdown while Jeremy Stewart had 43 yards and Thompson finished with 70 yards.
“We took care of business in the rushing game,” Blue Devils coach John Crossgrove said. “Towards the end, when we were getting tired, is when they were able to pass against us to set up the scores.”
TJ Powers caught three passes for 32 yards and on defense had an interception return for 25 yards to set up a Stewart touchdown run.
Matt Richards and Greg Pasho led the defense with 13 tackles each, while Richards had two sacks.
The Blue Devils defense held the Trojans to just 42 rushing yards, while Doug Nelson also had a sack that resulted in a safety.
Moravia (2-1, 1-1 division) hosts Candor in its homecoming game next Saturday.
