Win in 100 butterfly propels Maroons

Allison White and Danielle Lang took first and second in the 100 butterfly to lead the Auburn girls swimming team to a 98-76 win over Henninger, Friday. White took first (1:15.6), while Danielle Lang came in second (1:18.6). Prior to that event, the Maroons were just ahead by one point to the Knights, but the finish put them up by six.
“That was our turning point of the match,” Auburn coach Tom Clary said.

Tiffany Kline took first in the 200 freestyle (2:16.95) and Bethany Schroeder finished second with a personal best (2:24.86). Schroeder also was second with a personal best in the 100 backstroke (1:13.71). Tracy Miller took first in the 100 backstroke (1:13.09).

Amanda Falsey came in first in the 200 individual medley (2:53.8) and was a part of two second-place finishes on relays. The 200 freestyle relay, with Falsey, Andrea Small, Tiffany Chehovich and Chrissy Marcholl, placed second (2:19).

Auburn took second in the 400 freestyle relay (4:47.65) with Falsey, Liz Keller, Marcholl and Onea Kloster. Molly Blair had a personal best 6:24.8 in the 500 freestyle for a second-place finish. Molly Swartz won the 100 breaststroke (1:24.94) and Ashley King won the 100 freestyle (1:00.72). Kloster finished second in the 50 freestyle (31.6) .

White, Brigid Cotter, Swartz and Erin Chalupnicki led the Maroons to first place in the 200 medley relay (2:23.67).

Auburn (3-0) hosts Baldwinsville Wednesday.

GIRLS SOCCER

Jordan-Elbridge 2, Hannibal 1

Tia Segretto led the Eagles with a goal and an assist. Carrie-Jo Farrugia scored a goal and Ashley Foote assisted. The Eagles were down 1-0 at halftime.

“We just played up to the level we are capable of,” Eagles coach Al Maxian said. “(In the )first half we didn't play up to that level. We did a better job in the second half on defense and attacks. We also took better quality shots.”

The Eagles had 12 shots on goal and four corner kicks.

Jordan-Elbridge (1-7-1) travels to Cazenovia Monday.

Newark Valley 9, Southern Cayuga 0

Emily Heslop and Hillary Chidsey combined for nine saves in goal for the Chiefs.

FIELD HOCKEY

Cazenovia 2, Port Byron 1

Ali Short scored the Panthers goal on an assist from Nica Dare. Kellie Redmond saved 18 shots.

Port Byron (5-3) travels to Rome Tuesday.

Cortland 1, Weedsport 0

Kaitlin Hammersley saved three shots for the Warriors.

Weedsport (1-5 overall, 1-4-1 in league) travels to Baldwinsville, Tuesday.
