The Auburn girls swim team rallied back from behind to win a close meet against Oswego at the Auburn YMCA-WEIU Wednesday, 94-76.
“It was an exciting meet,” Maroons coach Tom Clary said. “We were behind after the first event to the half. We came back from being down eight points which is a nice comeback for the kids.”
The meet started with a close 200 medley relay with Auburn getting touched out and finishing in second place (2:01.53) with Kelsey Roe, Makenzie Hauger, Tracy Miller and Mallorie Dygert.
The next event was equally as close for Ashley King, who came in second (2:10.03) in the 200 IM, while Kara Cunningham finished fourth in the event (2:13).
Hauger had the lead for most of the 200 IM but lost it coming in a close second place (2:30.89).
Dygert earned the first win of the meet for the Maroons in the 50 freestyle (26.80) closing the gap to 35-27, in favor of Oswego.
Cutting that deficit in half was Roe's win in the 100 butterfly (105.89) with Miller also coming in third (112.03).
Auburn later took the lead, 50-44, with a Dygert's win in the 100 freestyle (58.37).
“That was a surprise win,” Clary said. “That win really turned it around for us.”
It helped that the Maroons also took second in the event with Cunningham (101.05) and third with Tiffany Kline (101.77).
Another Auburn win came for from King in the 500 freestyle (5:46.42), while Allison White came in third (6:07.32).
Hauger, Cunningham, King and Dygert earned a second place finish (149.87) for Auburn in the 200 freestyle relay, just a tenth of a second behind first place.
Roe earned her second individual win in the backstroke (104.70) while Michaela Elliott touched third (111.07).
In the 100 breaststroke, Hauger finished second (116.08) and Tiffani Chehovich swam her best time and a third place finish (121.08).
With Auburn up 12 going into the final event, a win was crucial in order to seal the victory and the 400 freestyle relay team of Cunningham, Kline, King and Roe came through (404.10).
The Maroons (2-0) swim at Henninger Friday.
Skaneateles 99, Manlius Pebble Hill 73
Racheal DeWitt earned three first place finishes for the Lakers - in the 200 IM (2:35.86), the 100 freestyle (1:01.08) and as a leg of the 200 medley relay team (2:15.63) along with Mandi Steves, Sarah Sawyer and Britton Weber.
Sawyer also won the 100 butterfly (1:12.08) and the 500 freestyle (5:56.93).
Also earning first place finishes for Skaneateles was Holly Ross in the 50 freestyle (28.18) and the 100 backstroke (1:17.20), Gaelyn Price in the 200 freestyle (2:21.11), Kaela Fiutak in diving (169.50) and Brittany Williams in the 100 breaststroke (1:27.34).
The Lakers (2-1) swim against Christian Brothers Academy Wednesday.
GIRLS SOCCER
Skaneateles 4, Hannibal 0
Jackie Stucker and Grace Van der ven led the Lakers recording one goal and one assist apiece.
Also scoring for Skaneateles was Taylor Kerr and Destin VanTyle who each earned one goal while Aly Davis posted one assist.
Erica Tardiff contributed one save in goal for the Lakers.
Skaneateles (5-3) travels to Homer Friday.
Southern Cayuga 2, Newfield 1
Lianna May and Felicia Allen each scored a goal for the Chiefs, while Marissa Burns assisted on both scores.
Southern Cayuga led in shots on goal, 7-4 but Newfield took them in corner kicks, 6-5.
Both teams earned four saves on goal.
Marathon 6, Union Springs 2
Amanda Cuff and Alex Blackman both scored a goal for the Wolves with Alexa Schooley earning an assist.
Lindsey Artman recorded 11 saves for Union Springs.
Marathon led in shots on goal, 21-8 and in corner kicks, 7-1.
BOYS GOLF
Fayetteville-Manlius 184, Auburn 220
Central Square 210, Auburn 220
Harrison Davenport and Steve Dec both carded a 42 to pace the Maroons.
Also playing the greens for Auburn was James Cutillo and Bob Gage who both earned a 44.

It was a game of close matches for the Maroons with Claire Minnoe winning first singles 6-1, 6-2.
Palak Patel won a tie-breaker third singles match (7-6, 7-5, 2-6, 6-4), Katie Searing and Aishu Irri also won a tie-breaker for second doubles (7-6, 9-7, 6-4) and Sam Cadwallader and Amy Farinelli won fourth doubles (3-6, 7-5, 6-2).
The Maroons (6-1) host Rome Free Academy on Monday.
GIRLS CROSS COUNTRY
Cato-Meridian 27, Port Byron 28
Taking first place overall was Cato-Meridian's Aubrey Campbell (24:02).
The Blue Devils were also led by Jordan Weir with a third place finish (24:32), Jessica Cushman finished in sixth place (25:22), Jessica Bye followed in seventh (28:58), Kristin Roberts earned 10th place (27:38), Erin Annett took 11th (28:26) and Kristine DeLattre recorded a 13th place finish (30:30).
Pacing the Panthers was Felicia Darrow in second place (24:21), Nicole Carey finished fourth (25:15), Amanda Vitale ended in fifth (25:16), Kaylee Alder took eighth (27:10), Christina Rooker followed in ninth (27:14), Heather Kurtz earned 12th position (28:43).
