South Carolina Democratic chairwoman, Carol Fowler, and others believe voting for life is ignorant single issue voting. On the contrary, a pro-life vote touches multiple crucial issues of the country. It is a vote for babies, the disabled, and the elderly. It is a vote for husbands, wives, and families at all stages of life, not just the age of reproduction. A pro-life vote is a vote for men and women to finally respect each other. A pro-life vote is a vote for personal responsibility and the strength it gives our nation economically as well as socially.
Leaders who say they are repulsed by abortion but think it is wrong to tell others how to live are teaching a dangerous doctrine. How dare we condone premeditated murder and not feel guilty for it just because we don't commit the act ourselves. American law calls it accessory to murder.

The Federal Born Alive Infants Protection Act was signed into law in 2002 after receiving unanimous support from the U.S. Senate. The measure that forces hospitals to give medical care to abortion survivors -- if warranted -- even received the backing of liberal senators Ted Kennedy (D-Massachusetts ), Barbara Boxer (D-California), and Hillary Clinton (D-New York).
Obama now says he did not support the Illinois measure because it "lacked the Federal language clarifying the act would not be used to undermine Roe vs. Wade. Pro-life blogger Jill Stanek recently wrote a column for WorldNetDaily.com titled "Obama's biggest lie about supporting infanticide." She points out Obama actively opposed the Born Alive Infants Protection Act for three years in the Illinois senate.
"He voted against it. He was the sole senator speaking against it on the [Illinois] senate floor [for] two years. And the third year, he held the bill from being considered altogether in committee and killed the bill," Stanek contends. "

Pro-CHOICE is not pro-abortion. Plenty of pro-choice people would not choose to have an abortion themselves, but have the respect for others to let them make their own choices. Pro-choice means not having a dictatorial government which says you MUST have an abortion if it is believed your child will have Down's Syndrome, but rather gives you the CHOICE to decide if you feel you can handle the child's special needs, or if you want to bear a child and give it up for adoption, or if that would be unbearable for you. Having choice means a victim of rape or incest would not be forced to bear a child conceived of that crime as a living reminder of the horror to carry around in your body for months, and to have to give birth, and perhaps to have to give up, which could be just as traumatic as keeping the child. Pro-choice means also that you CAN have a child under those circumstances if that's what you prefer.
I tend to agree with brew, that such a think should not be decided lightly, and a decision made only when necessary. I would not allow later-term abortions except under special extenuating circumstances -- if you find yourself pregnant when you did not want to be, you should be making a decision as soon as you can so there is no question of whether it's a child or a ball of cells inside you.
But that's MY CHOICE to view things that way, and it should be your choice to view it differently. Just don't try to force your choice on me. Pro-Choice people don't.... "
