Senators earning money when they're not even there

Tuesday, September 16, 2008 11:40 PM EDT

During the Eisenhower administration, the White House staff consisted of plus or minus 37 people. During the Clinton years, the staff rose to more than 6,000 people and got so bad they had to farm out many people to other departments.
Dick Morris' wife checked the activities of Congress during January 2008. They met at noon Jan. 3 and adjourned at 12:03. What they accomplished in January was to pass bills honoring three or four people. Period.

We have had three senators running for president who almost never were there. If they voted, it was by proxy. Yet they continue to draw handsome salaries and perks, supposedly to manage the affairs of the people!

Doesn't this bother someone? The media?

Lobbyists spent $2.81 billion on 2007 buying favors from Congress. Doesn't anyone care?

" McCain is ahead on lobbyists, but "O" is ahead on earmarks. "

" MAYBE McCain has more lobbyists than Obama, but they BOTH have them on their campaigns! Just heard Obamas budget for FL. $39.3 million. "
