Most of the more than 3,800 New York State Electric and Gas customers in the Auburn division who were left in the dark early Monday morning have regained power, NYSEG officials announced Tuesday afternoon.

NYSEG chief lineman Marty Kimak feeds wire up to be strung as the crew restores power in Casey Park on Tuesday evening. Service to nearly 3,800 customers has been almost entirely restored after the wind storm's destruction.
As of approximately noon Tuesday, 209 customers were still affected by outages caused by a wind storm that blew through the region.

Most of the remaining powerless customers were expected to have their electricity restored by early evening, according to the NYSEG release, though a few customers in isolated or heavily damaged areas were likely to be without service until midnight or longer.

However, Auburn NYSEG spokesperson Barbara Murdock said additional outage reports were coming in throughout the day.

Those customers could have to wait until today before their power is restored, Murdock said.

NYSEG asks customers who are still without power after crews complete final circuit sweeps to call (800) 572-1131.

NYSEG officials reminded residents to stay away from and report any downed power lines.
