The Geneva Theatre Guild will celebrate its 30th anniversary season by presenting “Graceland” and “Asleep on the Wind” at 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Sept. 12 and 13, and at 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 14, at the Smith Opera House, 82 Seneca St., Geneva.
The two one-act plays were written to be performed together. “Graceland” takes place at the entrance to Elvis' iconic mansion in Memphis, where two fans of the King - Bev and Rootie - are camping out on the eve of the estate's opening to the public. Their personalities and wish to enter the mansion first soon come into conflict.

“Asleep on the Wind” follows Rootie 10 years prior to “Graceland.” As a young woman in Bayou Teche, La., she meets with her favorite brother, Beau, who wants to persuade his reclusive sister to stay in school and make new friends. He also plans to tell her that he has enlisted in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War, and she must deal with the change this news deals her.

Cara Gopen, 13, plays young Rootie and is joined in the shows by Laura Feligno and Randy Hemple. Tickets are $10 for adults and $8 for students and seniors. Call 781-LIVE.
