I am very upset over the fact that our county legislators are accepting mileage money for trips while representing the people who voted for them to help everyone to keep taxes down. They should only be paid as legislators. If mileage should be paid, it should only be paid from the County Office Building to wherever he/she must attend any important meeting and back to the County Office Building, not to and from home.

Kudos to the parents, teachers and coaches of the young people from Union Springs Academy soccer team! While waiting for my order at Little Caesars Thursday evening, I watched the coach and team come in to order their victory dinner. All were very polite and friendly. As I walked out with my hands full, a young man offered to open my car door for me! Wow! As I drove round the building, the boys saw my car and all waved!

I was very upset to read on the front page of the paper Sunday, Sept. 7, about the debate on our county legislators being paid 50.5 cents a mile to do their county business. They are elected by the people and receive a salary. Most have other jobs also. I had no idea. We pay huge county taxes. No one I know of gets reimbursed for gas money to go to work, and these are elected people!
