Legislators shouldn't be getting mileage checks

Wednesday, September 10, 2008 11:00 PM EDT

I am very upset over the fact that our county legislators are accepting mileage money for trips while representing the people who voted for them to help everyone to keep taxes down. They should only be paid as legislators. If mileage should be paid, it should only be paid from the County Office Building to wherever he/she must attend any important meeting and back to the County Office Building, not to and from home.
In addition, the county should take the $2,400 paid by the TomatoFest, which was to help feed the poor, and use that money to stock shelves of the food pantries of Cayuga County. No one should go hungry, but many are.
