W. Genesee property nasty spot on street

Saturday, September 6, 2008 11:34 PM EDT

I'm writing in regards to the nasty spot on West Genesee Street in front of Ricky's which is now out of business.
Can you please put this in the paper as I called code enforcement and they have been trying for quite some time to contact the owner about this, but they have had no response.

I noticed this when I was walking my children to school on their first day.

Broken glass, whiskey bottles, garbage like you wouldn't believe, weeds three feet high lining the sidewalk.

Doesn't Auburn have people that go around and clean up streets even though it isn't their property and charge the owner?

My other idea is to organize a bunch of people and go clean it ourselves, but what message does that send to others.

Please, maybe if the owner sees this and cares enough, he or she will go do something about this mess.

" maybe the owner is or has recently become disabled or died maybe that is why they can't reach him. and i agree it most likely isn't the property owner that made the mess. yes they are responsible. and tell code enforcment to leave the good citizens alone and maybe they would have time to take care of this. " Maybe if you organized some people to clean it up it would send a message to everyone that your neighborhood cares! Do the right thing. The person that owns the property may be broke, sick and unable to clean it up. He also didn't litter the property and break bottles on it. Since there is no answer available then your thought of a clean up is the right thing to do. "

" Obviously the owner could care less or it wouldnt be in this condition to begin with! "
