The work of more than two dozen black artists will be exhibited at the State University of New York at Geneseo, beginning Tuesday, Sept. 2, at the college's Lederer Gallery in Brodie Hall. The exhibit consists of prints, drawings, collages, watercolors and hand-made paper works celebrating music, humanity and black culture.
Featured artists include: Linda Hiwot, Camille Billops, Joe Overstreet, David Fludd, Ben Jones, Bill Majors, Tom Laidman, Ronald Joseph, Robert Blackburn, Larry Winston Collins, Victor Davson, Berrisford Boothe, Joyce Wellman, Kabuya P. Bowens, Teri Richardson and Amiri Baraka.
Blackburn, a late printmaker, received a prestigious MacArthur Fellowship in 1992. Filmmaker Billops won the Grand Jury Prize at the 1992 Sundance Film Festival.
The gallery is open from noon to 4 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays and from noon to 6 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays.
