Southern Cayuga faculty makes a big difference

Monday, September 1, 2008 11:53 PM EDT

My daughter's new teacher sent her a personalized note welcoming her back to school. The note was warm and built anticipation for the learning that would happen this year at school. My daughter chattered excitedly about how much she was looking forward to school, to seeing her friends, her teachers and how much she would learn this year because she was heading into a new grade.
I never cease to be amazed and inspired by the quality educators that make up Southern Cayuga Central School. As summer comes to an end, I realize once again that in addition to some well-deserved relaxation, many educators have spent their summers preparing for the new school year - getting organized, preparing lessons, taking classes, etc.

The kind, well thought out letter my child received is exactly what I have come to expect from our school: the going the extra mile - even in the summer - to ensure a positive learning experience for the kids.

I have personally experienced this dedication in the meetings I have attended at 7:30 in the morning with teachers and support staff at the school as dedicated teachers and nurses miss a work or lunch period because they were helping students, and in the teachers' support for evening events with the children.

Southern Cayuga Central School is fortunate to have a kind, compassionate group of professionals who strive for excellence in the classroom, in themselves and in the students.

Another school year is about to begin. I would personally like to thank the educators and administration in the Southern Cayuga Central School District for giving so freely of their time, expertise, and energies. I will be sending the most valuable asset in my life - my children - to you in complete confidence that the whole child will be taught and respected as they receive an excellent academic, social, emotional, and physical education. What you do truly matters! Thank you!
