For their third straight win, the Auburn Doubledays pulled off a trick rarely seen this season - the come-from-behind, walk-off hit version.
Against the team with the worst record in the New York-Penn League, Auburn scored three runs in the bottom of the ninth to upend State College 4-3 at Falcon Park Saturday.

One of the hottest hitters for the Doubledays as of late, Bartolo Nicolas, cracked his second single of the evening to score Leance Soto with two outs for the win. With one out, Soto got the rally started when he singled to score Jon Del Campo and two batters later, Chris Hopkins earned an RBI single to bring home Carlos Vasquez. Alan Knotts suffered his second blown save, on top of his second loss of the season, after a rough 1 2-3 innings, where he allowed four hits and one walk as the Doubledays stole the win from under the Spikes.

From the other dugout, Auburn starter Joel Carreno struggled to complete five innings, making it only as far as one batter into the fifth before being replaced by Yorman Mayora. Carreno gave up seven of the Spikes' nine hits, on top of one walk and one run when Andy Vasquez hit a home run.

Mayora went the next three frames, but was touched for a Spikes' run in the fifth that put them ahead.

Hunter Moody also gave up a run in the eighth when Jeremy Farrell hit another solo home run, which put Matt Daly in position to grab his second win of the season. Daly got out of the ninth by striking out two.

The Doubledays went ahead early when Mike McDade smacked his eighth double of the season to score Del Campo in the second.

Auburn (35-33) hosts State College for the final time this season, tonight.
