HIT: To the terrific performances put together for the community by the members of the Fingerlakes Artists, Musicians & Entertainers group.
FAME, a program of the Seneca Cayuga ARC that helps promote performing artists who have disabilities, put considerable effort into a production of “Saturday Night Fried,” which was performed twice over the weekend at Cayuga Community College.
All of the people involved in this program should be proud of this accomplishment, just the latest in FAME's long list of success stories.
HIT: To another terrific running of The Downtown Mile, which took place last Friday.
It's always nice to see downtown Auburn busy with pedestrians during non-business hours, which is what this run creates.
This gathering is truly a community event, with people of all ages and athletic abilities taking part. From the serious runner to the family that just saw an opportunity for a nice stroll, all participants had one thing in mind - to have some fun in Auburn on a summer night.
MISS: To the winding down of the unofficial summer season.
Yes, summer is still technically here for much of September, but for many people, that low-key pace that is a hallmark of summer fun goes away after Labor Day.
Don't get us wrong, either. Fall in the Finger Lakes are a time to cherish, as well, but it just felt like this summer went by in a flash.
HIT: To the excellent service Centro provides for Cayuga County residents looking for a ride to the New York State Fair.
For a small fee, the regional transportation service will take you and your family right to the front gates from a number of different locations around the county. The service is frequent and efficient. For many fairgoers, it's the ideal way to get to the fairgrounds.
