HIT: To the start of high school football practice.
Summer is flying by and with Labor Day less than two weeks away it is time for local high school football teams to strap on the pads and get ready for a new season.
Summer practice can be a grueling experience, but through it, the players bond and learn how to become a team.
Other fall high school sports have also started practice as their seasons start sooner than you think.
MISS: To the closing of Goldberg's Furniture in Sennett.
The store, which was once Traub's Furniture, a name older Auburnians will remember, closes at the end of the year.
The company will close two other central New York locations as it plans on consolidating its resources into one centralized store in the Syracuse area.
It's never a good thing when any business in the area shuts its doors.
HIT: To the start of the New York State Fair.
It's an experience that generations of New Yorkers have enjoyed.
From the food to the shows to the exhibits, the fair is a great way to spend a summer day. We're fortunate that it is located so close to Cayuga County so local residents can attend it as long and as often as they want to.
For some people, the fair is one of the best parts of summer.
HIT: To Barbara Speno-Walsh, of Auburn, who is memorializing her brother Joey Speno in a unique way.
Speno-Walsh takes care of a one-block grass median in front of her house on Lake Avenue. Speno-Walsh and her family spend many hours each week maintaining the garden and grounds. The garden also includes a bench.
It is a beautiful tribute.
