The Cayuga County Sheriff's Office has issued multiple citations to two people involved in a fatal motor vehicle accident that took place Sunday near Union Springs.
According to sheriff's investigators, Gordon Parr Jr., 38, has been charged with one misdemeanor of operating a motor vehicle with a suspended registration. Investigators also issued Parr three infractions: failure to keep right, unlicensed operation and operating a motor vehicle without insurance.
Parr was operating a 1997 Mercury that was registered to Lorie Sell, sheriff's investigators said. Sell, 36, has been cited with the infractions of permitting operation without insurance and permitting unlicensed operation, according to the sheriff's office.
The Mercury was heading north at approximately 2:30 p.m. on Route 90 when it crossed the double solid line and struck a 2007 Toyota Prius, according to investigators. Testimonies from the scene indicate that Parr swerved to avoid an animal, investigators said.
Bret A. Boesen, 49, a passenger in the Toyota, was pronounced dead when emergency workers arrived on the scene. Five others were injured, including Parr and Sell.
The crash happened 50 feet north of Conners Road, and traffic was stopped as far back as Townline Road.
Sheriff's investigators said Friday that further charges or citations are unlikely.
