Several people were hurt Thursday morning in an accident near the New York State Fairgrounds.
A truck struck a pedestrian bridge over Interstate 690 around 11 a.m. Thursday, and debris from the bridge fell and struck a minivan traveling in an eastbound lane, causing the vehicle to crash, authorities said.
Troopers say six to eight people were trapped in the minivan. They were taken to nearby hospitals by helicopter and ambulance.
There was no immediate information on their injuries.
The crash occurred in the town of Geddes about a mile from the fairgrounds. I-690's eastbound lanes near Exit 6 was closed but has since reopened. A state Department of Transportation spokesman says a section of the bridge has to be removed.
