The Auburn Police Department is searching for a 15-year-old girl who they believe ran away from home last Friday after she told her mother she was leaving to baby-sit, detectives said.
Detectives believe Alexis T. Decker, 15, of Garrow Street, Auburn, ran away after she called her mother on Monday to tell her she was still baby-sitting, detectives said. The mother told police that Alexis refused to return home and would not disclose her location other than saying she was somewhere on Auburn's Division Street.
According to a police description, Alexis is a white female who is 5 feet 2 inches tall, weighs about 120 pounds, and has brown hair and blues eyes.
Detectives said they did not believe Alexis was baby-sitting or was really on Division Street, but were confident she was still in Auburn based on the context of her conversation with her mother.
"There is no indication she boarded a bus," said Detective Patrick Shea. "She is voluntarily missing juvenile. The problem with that is once they are out there we don't know where they are or what they are doing or if they are in any danger."
Police ask that anyone who has any information on her whereabouts call the department at 255-3231.
