Bug out at Sterling Nature Center

The Sterling Nature Center is getting a little creepy, and crawly these days.
Naturalist Jim D'Angelo is welcoming all sorts of little critters to the Bugs, Bugs and More Bugs event Wedneday, Aug. 20.

From insects to arachnids and a whole plethora of other bugs, such as monarch butterflies and tiger beetles, participants will discover these organisms in their natural habitats, whether that be in the forest or the field. D'Angelo will sweep the air with nets to collect, observe and identify and set free insects.

The program is perfect for children and their parents, as well as anyone interested in discovering the world of bugs in their own backyard.

D'Angelo will discuss questions such as; When is a bug not a bug? and are all insects bugs or are all bugs insects? The program is free and open to the public. Appropriate attire and footwear will make for an easier bughunt.

Concluding the program, participants are welcome to explore the trail for themselves from sunrise until sunset.

The center will also be hosting its 10th annual pig roast Sunday, Aug. 17. The Friends of the Sterling Nature Center will provide food, music and a great time for the whole family.
