SYRACUSE -- A Syracuse University judicial affairs panel has cleared three members of the men's basketball team of charges they sexually assaulted a female student on campus last fall.
But the panel says some disciplinary action is warranted because the players' conduct threatened the mental health of the student.
So players Jonny Flynn, Antonio "Scoop" Jardine and Richard Jackson -- as well as a fourth student not on the basketball team -- are being placed on university probation through the spring semester.
They also must perform 30 hours of community service on campus and participate in gender-sensitivity and domestic violence educational programs.
A county grand jury refused to consider criminal charges. Lawyers for Flynn and Jackson say they are pleased.
