ALBANY - New York lobbying records show that former Senate Majority Leader Joseph Bruno is a registered lobbyist for CMA Consulting Services.
Under state law, the 79-year-old is barred from lobbying the Legislature for two years.
Bruno told the Times Union of Albany that he registered as a lobbyist because in his new role, he would be dealing with the heads of state agencies and the executive branch, which awards most state contracts.
CMA, based in the Albany County suburb of Latham, is headed by Kay McCabe Stafford, the widow of Republican Sen. Ronald Stafford.
The company has won more than $9 million in contracts since 2006 for computer programming and information technology, according to state records.
The company has grown since 1984 to a national corporation with offices in New York City, the Washington, D.C. area, Texas and Arizona.
