In other news:
Graphic novels are in. The library's expanded collection of graphic novels - written and illustrated in comic book-style panels - were unveiled the first week of July. Members of the library's teen book club introduced the collection during a brief ceremony. Snacks and graphic novel trivia games followed.
Dozens of graphic novels - the fastest growing genre in the book world - were purchased through grants from the Friends of the Seneca Falls Library group and the Finger Lakes Library Service. Graphic novels are published for all age levels and are especially popular with teens. The teens have a new corner this year just for them, and the graphic novels fit right in with their posters and books.
“War In the Blue - A Remembrance” by Les Lind is a documentary of the air war to commemorate the conclusion of World War II in the E.T.O. from training through combat. Lind, a former B-17 Turret Gunner, was a graduate of Mynderse Academy, class of 1941. Recently deceased, he is interned in Arlington National Cemetery. His book has been donated to the library by Mrs. Maurita Lind.
These books were some of those purchased with interest from the George M. and Anna Arvantides Bantuvanis Book Fund, 2005-2007: “A History of Iran: Empire of the Mind” by Michael Axworthy, “FDR: The First Hundred Days” by Anthony J. Badger, “Human Smoke: The Beginnings of WWII and the End of Civilization” by Nicholson Baker, “Terror and Consent: The Wars for the 21st Century” by Philip Bobbitt, “The Prince of Frogtown” by Rick Brag, “A Wolf at the Table: A Memoir of My Father” by Augusten Burroughs, “Vindicated: Big Names, Big Liars, and the Battle to Save Baseball” by Jose Conseco, “A Remarkable Mother” by Jimmy Carter and “The Candy Bombers: The Untold Story of the Berlin Airlift” by Andrei Cherny.
