Sennett should back off, allow Bonca's to operate

Wednesday, August 13, 2008 11:59 PM EDT

The town of Sennett officials have demonstrated their arrogance to be negative toward a new business owned by three fine, respectable people of our community.
Shame on these people who are making it very difficult for Bonca's to open up, without being prodded here and there for reasons that now seem to have become harassment.

Whatever happened to the old common sense, instead of the negative sense of the code enforcement officer who has the sole (judgment) power to possibly be vindictive?

Many times the public/taxpayer has seen other officials serving on various boards, whose authority becomes part of their own ego, to possibly show off their superiority over those that have appeared before them.

As we have read in The Citizen, there have been many letters sent in that are in favor of Bonca's opening.

This great new ice cream/pizza place has very much enriched the area compared to what it was before.

Bonca's owners, with their thousands of dollars in investments, will be feeding tax dollars into the town. Plus several jobs will be created.

Bonca's is one of the top eateries in the Finger Lakes and Syracuse area - a very fine establishment to be enjoyed by many patrons.

I believe that much incorrect information was fed to us in regards to Bonca's' daily business hours and function.

After all, they will not have late bar hours.

So why all the focus on Bonca's by the Sennett administration, which has cost thousands of dollars in court/lawyers fees?

As a matter of fact, from the very initial moment of RyBach and Rig trying to open their establishment, one of the Sennett councilmen stated that what the Sennett Town Board was doing was wrong and would cost money and create a lot of animosity and expensive legal costs, which is what the town has now encountered.

I hope that all the pettiness will be let go by the town board, and they will let Bonca's fully operate their business to serve the many patrons that are awaiting to visit and enjoy the new eatery.

" What Cayuga County certainly needs is new businesses for jobs, tax revenue, and honestly a more positive economic environment. The message that the Sennett board is sending is why should local businessmen let alone outsiders have any desire to spend thousands of dollars in Cayuga County. Dollars to create jobs, beautify an eyesore building and create work for youth.

The Sennett town board have given themselves a big enough black eye over this.Cut your losses Sennett and let Boncas open for crying out loud. "

" follow the rules set forth and adhered to by other local businesses and you can open. I do agree it is a very nice looking building and I am sure the food is excellent but if one business gets away with breaking the rules there will be more to follow. To Missy1941, what is this GOP garbage????? "

" Is it possible that another similar business who's owner has ties to the GOP,is behind the plot to stop them from opening? "
