There will be an open fly-in for all types of aircraft, including fixed wing, rotor, lighter than air, ultralights, powered parachutes and paragliders throughout the event.
Trophies will be awarded for a spot landing challenge for fixed wing aircraft that will start at 1 p.m. Saturday, with trophies awarded. There is no entry fee.
The Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) Chapter 811 from Ithaca will be sponsoring a Young Eagles Day starting at 10 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 10. Eligible young people from ages 8 to 17 will be introduced to aviation through a ground school exercise and then an airplane ride, weather permitting, with a volunteer EAA pilot. After completion of the program, the participant receives a certificate signed by the pilot. A parent must register the child and space is limited. This is a free program.
This event raises money for the Long Hill Fire Department and the Moravia Boy Scout Troop 55.
Food will be provided on the weekend by the Long Hill Fire Department, and the Boy Scouts will sell baked goods and ice cream.
Open field camping is also available for a $10 donation per night.
Everyone is welcome to fly or drive in to this free event.
