Smith to miss race at Watkins

Cato native Regan Smith won't get the opportunity to race in his home state.

According to his Web site, regansmith.com, Dale Earnhardt Inc. has withdrawn the entry for Smith's No. 81 Sprint Cup car for Watkins Glen NASCAR race this Sunday.

DEI was informed by NASCAR that Smith's car would exceed the four-team limit.

Teams are allowed a fifth car for a maximum of seven races for a rookie. Smith has 20 starts this season.
