Brett Cecil, a member of the Auburn Doubledays 2007 New York-Penn League championship squad, started for the Triple-A Syracuse Chiefs Wednesday night and picked up his first win.
Cecil (1-1) threw five strong innings, allowing six hits, two runs and striking out seven in a 7-3 victory against the Charlotte Knights.

He didn't allow a run until the fifth inning.

Another 2008 Doubleday made an impact as well. Adam Calderone was 1-for-3 on the night, with a double and a run scored.

With the score 1-1, former Auburn player Russ Adams delivered a three-run home run to give the Chiefs a 4-1 advantage. Kevin Melillo also homered for Syracuse.

After Cecil exited, former Doubleday Sean Stidfole pitched two scoreless innings in relief.
